Vai valstij ir vajadzīgs mērķis? Vai valstij ir iespējams mērķis, nolūks, jēga? Vai jums ir skaidrs, kādam nolūkam jūs piedzimāt?

Ar to mēs Latvijā esam izauguši visi kā viens. Tas saucas totalitārisms, liels, nāvīgs ļaunums visās tā izpausmēs.

Ja mērķis nav sasniedzams, ir nereālistisks, bet drīzāk ideālistisks, utopisks, kā tas arī ir bijis mūsu vēsturē vēl pavisam nesen tajā pašā totalitārajā režīmā, tas ātri, vienas vai pāris paaudžu dzīves laikā, zaudē savu pievilcību un leģitimitāti. Sabiedrība, indivīdi šādam mērķim vairs neuzticas, tas kļūst par izsmieklu, kā tas arī ir bijis un novedis līdz impērijas sabrukumam.

Es gan neaicinu tagad vērtēt impērijas sabrukumu. Es aicinu nopietni izvērtēt pašu pieredzi no dzīves totalitārisma apstākļos: mērķi, kurus valsts pati izdomā sev un sabiedrībai ir utopiskās domāšanas despotisms, kas ātri zaudē leģitimitāti un atņem leģitimitāti pašai despotiskajai valstij, kas beidzas ar tās sabrukumu, chaosu.

Tieši tāpēc valsts mērķu/jēgas definēšana likumos nevar nodrošināt valsts ilgtspēju un nav savienojama ar demokrātiju. Man šķiet, ir nepareizi, bīstami un nepieļaujami likt nācijas un valsts pamatā kaut ko tik laicīgu, apšaubāmu, atkarīgu no tūlītējām tendencēm, gaumēm, kā valsts „mērķis”.
